Relief and Rehabilitation Department 

Overview

The Relief and Rehabilitation Department is responsible for providing assistance and support to individuals and communities affected by natural disasters, emergencies, or other calamities within the jurisdiction of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC). The department ensures timely relief distribution and coordinates rehabilitation efforts to restore normalcy in affected areas.

Functions
  • Assessment and Monitoring: Evaluate the impact of disasters and determine the needs of affected communities.

  • Relief Distribution: Provide food, shelter, clothing, medical aid, and other essentials to victims.

  • Rehabilitation Programs: Facilitate long-term recovery and resettlement, including rebuilding infrastructure and homes.

  • Coordination with Other Departments: Work with relevant GHADC departments and external agencies to ensure efficient delivery of aid.

  • Disaster Preparedness: Develop strategies and contingency plans to minimize the impact of future disasters.
