Building Regulatory and Development Authority (BRDA)

Overview

Established on 21st September, 2023, the Building Regulatory & Development Authority (BRDA) under the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) is responsible for enforcing Building Bye-Laws and ensuring orderly development in the 6th Scheduled areas.

Functions
  • Granting building permissions and No Objection Certificates (N.O.C.s).

  • Registration of technical personnel involved in construction.

  • Levying taxes on buildings, including Labour Cess.

  • Ensuring orderly and planned development in accordance with legal regulations.

  • ​

Building Bye-Laws
  • Legal tools designed to regulate aspects such as:

    • Coverage and height of buildings

    • Building bulk and architectural design

    • Construction standards

  • Aimed at achieving systematic and safe development of areas under GHADC jurisdiction.
